I am never going to claim to be an expert on any of this. I'm not a professional food critic. I'm not schooled in the nuances of Mexican cuisine. I'm not even from around here, I grew up in Montana. So what business do I have reviewing tacos in San Diego? It's just a topic close to my heart. San Diego has such a diversity and depth of food that it's easy to miss something fantastic. Especially if you like your Mexican food more in the taco truck/mom&pop category. And yet, for some reason I'll never understand, there are few food blogs in San Diego, and almost none devoted to Mexican food.

Well.... I think that's silly. And I intend to do something about it.

Some rules I'll be going by -

1) It doesn't have to be authentic. A good taco is a good taco, even if it doesn't look and taste exactly like something from Mexico. But it has to at least try.

2) I don't like burritos. Mostly because a big loaf of stuff in a flour tortilla isn't even close to real Mexican. And if the ingredients taste good in a big wad like that, they'll taste better in a taco. So we'll be judging by tacos, stews and such here, not burritos.

3) This site will be polite. So if you need to rudely bash people or food or opinions like a drunken child, don't bother posting as I'll just delete it. If you can't say it in a constructive and helpful manner you'll need to post it someplace else. Yes, food may suck and I may be an idiot. Still, you'll need to find a more interesting and mature way of saying that to post here.

4) I tend to like taco shops/trucks. So while I will be reviewing the fancier sit-down places, the main focus will be on more proletarian dining options.

5) If you are affiliated with a restaurant in any way, please resist the urge to do marketing or customer care here. I will try to make sure people are polite, even if they don't like your food. In return I ask that you let this site be free of bias and marketing. I will very likely delete any posts of questionable origin.
